Who We Are

The Collaborative Coaching Program was founded as a home-based support program in 2004. The Ryther Outdoor Leadership Program was launched in 2006. Both programs are operated by Ryther Child Center, a nationally accredited behavioral healthcare agency that has served children and adolescents since 1883.

Ben Wahl
Benjamin Wahl, MSW
Founder, Program Coordinator, Lead Mentor

Benjamin has worked with adolescents for over ten years as the director of an outdoor education program and as a staff member in wilderness therapy programs and residential treatment centers. Under the supervision of Ryther Child Center's CEO, Lee Grogg, Benjamin founded the Collaborative Coaching Program in 2004. Two years later, Benjamin founded the Ryther Outdoor Leadership Program. Benjamin holds a BA from Wesleyan University and an MSW from the University of Washington. In his free time Benjamin enjoys telemark skiing, rock climbing and other outdoor pursuits.


Vick Schoettle, MSW
Parent Coach

Vicki is the parent of three wonderful grown children. Having served in a variety of educational and mental health organizations, Vicki has a wealth of resources in the greater Seattle area. Among her many experiences, Vicki has been a parent-teen mediator for the Peace Council and as a committee chair on the Seattle PTA. Vicki has maintained a private practice as a parent coach for several years and has been with the Collaborative Coaching Program since 2004. Vicki holds an MSW from UCLA. She is also an accomplished gardener.

Parent Coach

Sally is an adoptive parent of three fabulous teenagers. Sally received her Masters in Community Health Education. She spent over 15 years working in the field as an executive director for two non-profits, a health educator for a state university and a consultant for a large corporation. She completed the graduate level parent coaching certification in 2003 through the Parent Coaching Institute. Sally has been a partner in Sound Parent, LLC since 2004.

Program Mentor

Emily brings a myriad of skills to her work as a Program Mentor. As a treatment coordinator at a renowned residential treatment center, Emily has gained extensive experience working with adolescents with a wide range of needs. Emily has worked with clients in the Collaborative Coaching Program since 2005. Emily holds her Master's degree from Argosy University. In her free time Emily enjoys playing soccer and rock climbing, as well as making art.

Kerry Billingham MA LMHC
Kerry Billingham, MA, LMHC
Program Mentor

Kerry Billingham has worked with clients in the Collaborative Coaching Program since 2006. With background as a lead clinician in a residential treatment center, Kerry brings strong clinical skills to her work in our program. Kerry holds a Master's degree from Northeastern University. When she is not racing sailboats, Kerry enjoys a variety of outdoor pursuits.

Carrie Mahoney, MSW
Program Mentor

Carrie has gained extensive experience working with adolescents in school and community settings. Carrie has worked with Collaborative Coaching Program clients since 2006. Carrie holds a Master's degree from the University of Washington. In her free time, Carrie enjoys traveling and spending time with her golden retriever.

Peter Weiss MA LMHC

Program mentor/Group facilitator

Peter has gained experience working with adolescents as an outpatient therapist for Valley Cities Counseling and as a private practice therapist. Peter is also the director of Talisman Summer Camp's Northwest programs. Peter has specific expertise in providing services to adolescents with Asperger's Syndrome and ADD/ADHD. Peter holds a Master's Degree from Argosy University. In his free time Peter enjoys outdoor sports.

Navid Alliaghai, BS
Ryther Outdoor Leadership Program counselor

Navid is the co-leader of our summer program and brings a range of experience working with adolescents with Asperger's Syndrome and other spectrum disorders. Before working with us, Navid worked at the renowned Fraser Clinic in Minneapolis. Navid also currently works at Children's Hospital in Seattle. Navid is an avid biker and also enjoys other outdoor pursuits.
