What we believe:
There are three principles at the core of The Collaborative Coaching Program.
Strengths-based. When young people are given an opportunity to explore their personal strengths the result is improved self-esteem. Teens and young adults in our program have oftenexperienced frustration andhave (sometimes) made poor decisions. By meeting outsideof the traditional office confines and employing a strengths-based approach, our Master'slevel mentors work with each client
to help them find paths to greater self-esteem and personal accountability.
Family-centered. We offer parents the support they need to re-build strained relationships and take on new roles with their children. Through our parent coaching services and solutions-focused family meetings we create an environment in which families can grow.
Team-supported. Families face complex situations and the Collaborative Coaching Program offers an integrative response. We emphasize communication within our own team and we also collaborate closely with school professionals, doctors, therapists and educational consultants to assure a coordinated treatment approach.
Program Overview
What we do:
The Collaborative Coaching Program is an intensive home-based program. There are three primary components of our program:
-
Mentor meetings. Individual meetings with Master's level mentors provide a supportive environment for our clients to set personal goals and explore strategies to confront challenges. The individual meetings are guided by the New Summits Success Plan, a values-based action plan that empowers the young person to address issues such as goal-setting, family communication, time management and healthy decision making. The meetings are also a time for the young person to get understanding and support from a trusted source.
-
Parent Coaching sessions. When a young person is struggling, the entire family is affected. Our professionally trained parent coaches offer parents the support and guidance to build a new relationship with their son or daughter. Parents work with the parent coach to identify key areas in their interactions with their teen or young adult. During each session, parents are able to explore specific strategies in these areas. By working with a trained parent coach, parents gain new perspective and are strengthened in their parenting.
-
Solutions-focused family meetings. Open family communication is perhaps the most important component in family growth. Utilizing a parent-teen mediation model, we facilitate family meetings to address key areas in the family dynamic. In these meetings, families are encouraged to work together to find practical solutions to day-to-day challenges. In addition, family intensives can be conducted using Ryther Child Center's ropes course and are an excellent opportunity to practice solutions-focused family communication.
